Dentist Visit

Yesterday I went to the dentist to get some wisdom teeth pulled out. I was pretty nervous the whole time. I’m just not a big fan of surgery and being put to sleep but I ‘m sure no one really is. The actual procedure only took about an hour. I don’t remember getting sleepy. I feel like I woke up pretty quick and was surprised it was all done. I was pretty shaky for a few minutes so they just had me sit a while before I could leave. They told me to eat something soft and take my pain pill within 30 minutes of leaving (we had a 75 minute drive home.) Seriously, it’s really hard to swallow a pill when your tongue, lips and whole bottom jaw is numb. Not fun at all. When I had a chance to read the “After Surgery Instructions” I thought some of them were a little ridiculous.  The first thing on the front cover says “DO NOT GO SHOPPING!” Really? Why would that be the first thing I want to do? I just had surgery in my mouth, I’m chewing on gauze from bleeding profusely, my cheeks are swollen and I can’t talk. Plus, I have to wear a headband full of ice for the rest of the day. Shopping is not really a priority at the moment. Another thing on the list is “Do not blow up balloons.” Once again… really? Why, why, why would I want to do that?? Numb face. Anyway, the rest of the instructions aren’t too bad. It says I can eat my regular diet on the second day but honestly I can’t imagine trying to chew right now. The swelling has gone down but my mouth still hurts.
